Importance
Studying on the course of Early Childhood Education, I realized that
how very important the early years of learning are to a child's
academic and social development. At no other time in a child's life is
the yearning for learning so intense. A preschooler's joy in
discovering new concepts is insatiable, his inquisitiveness is seldom
satisfied, and his determination to succeed knows no bounds. And
what's really refreshing is the fact that he delights in repetition
and practice. He also takes pride in every accomplishment - no matter
how big or small. You would also have noticed that he tackles every
activity with great enthusiasm and high spirit. He thrives on love and
encouragement. As such, if you conclude that the preschool years are
an ideal time to begin building good foundations for lifelong
learning, you are not far away from the truth.
In addition to academic development, the early childhood years are
also a time for social and emotional growth. It is clearly a big step
for the child to go from being the centre of his parents' universe to
sharing the world with others. With proper guidance, a child learns
positive patterns of social and emotional behaviour. He learns that
getting along with others requires more giving than taking. He learns
lessons in self-control and discipline. He learns respect for others
and respect for authority. He learns to love and show kindness to
others, and he is pleased when others reciprocate.
Activities to develop social skills and emotional maturity are part
and parcel of what we do at CEC to teach self-control, organization,
respect, unselfishness and kindness to your child to ensure that he
gets a rounded education. We call that the R.E.A.L (Results Enhancing
& Active Learning) education. It is essentially an experiential
learning initiative that focuses on the processes that facilitate the
development of dynamic interpersonal skills, individual creativity,
problem-solving skills and leadership qualities to enhance the growth
of the total person.
